ACROYOGA

Build trust, confidence and stability in your body.

Acroyoga is the perfect foundation and space to explore and deepen one’s own understanding of relationships. It’s inherent to this discipline the need to work and move together, to build trust, communicate clearly and to be able to rely on your spotters. You will learn to  move in a sustainable way, embodying stability with a solid muscular/anatomical foundation, and skilful technique carried with grace and ease. Besides the vibrant solar acrobatic practice you can also look forward to the healing lunar arts of thai massage and flying therapeutics. In a balanced blend between the two, we create a space for inner growth and transformation. We will share the joy of playing and build those connections between us that carry us through a heartfelt life.

What is Acroyoga?

  • AcroYoga combines the mindful wisdom of yoga, the dynamic power of acrobatics, and the healing touch of Thai massage. These lineages form the foundation of a practice that cultivates trust, playfulness, and connection.

AcroYoga is a community based practice.

We ignite our collective potential as we support each other to reach new heights. AcroYoga invites you to experience the full spectrum of your being through opportunities to: give and receive; to support and to be supported; to be strong and sensitive. It is a systematic approach designed to be accessible to every practitioner, and encourages personal transformation in an atmosphere of acceptance, celebration and safety.

  • AcroYoga is not only a form of movement, it is also a therapeutic practice. It is a blend of Eastern and Western knowledge that helps us embody and enhance our human core abilities of trust, communication, creativity and balance.

Practised in a safe environment, AcroYoga offers us the space to ground, grow emotionally and physically. On an emotional level, AcroYoga relights the fire of our inner child’s joy by encouraging us to open our hearts and refine our inherent sensitivity. On a physical level, it helps us to move in a sustainable and expansive way by strengthening our muscles, working with our alignment whilst offering opportunities to stretch, relax and restore your body and energy.

  • AcroYoga is practised in groups of three: a couple and a third person. Within the couple, only one person does the lifting. The person who does the lifting is called the base. The person who is lifted is called the flyer. The third person is called the spotter. The spotter is there for safety, coaching and to assist when needed.

We learn in dialogue, in seeing and experimenting together.

From the moment I discovered Acroyoga, I became enchanted by the inherent power of the practice; it spoke to my heart which is why I love sharing this beautiful practice with others: to light up our souls, reignite our inner fires, and fuel our creative powers in a fluent, water-like manner.

My classes, workshops and retreats are a magical journey of alchemy: blending different ingredients of practices that I love and live. My teachings are infused with wisdom and practices based on my experience in classical, modern and contemporary dance, physical theatre, Icarian games, and traditional yoga. By combining these practices, there is a space created that is physically challenging, technically precise, emotionally nourishing and deeply healing and restorative.

did you know?

there are two key elements in ACROYOGA

  • In the Solar practice of AcroYoga, both the base and flyer are active. The main focus is on dynamic acrobatics techniques. Trust is the currency we exchange in acrobatics. Once there is trust, we become empowered in our practice. From this place of empowerment, we can empower others.

The solar practice focuses on elements that build strength, such as inversions, movement flows, and partner acrobatics. These techniques are the building blocks that create a solid foundation and bring our body-mind-senses into a positive relationship with one another. A successful AcroYoga practice invites all participants to engage in teamwork and to encourage each other positively.

Both the dynamic between base and flyer and the safety offered by the spotter provides us with the chance to build trust within ourselves and others. Trust is a valuable asset cherished both on and off the AcroYoga mat.

Solar Acro Yoga gives us the tools to develop our relating skills: by working in small groups of three or more people and by changing the roles, we can experience both giving solid ground as the base, moving in fluidity as the flyer, and ensuring that the practice happens safely as the spotter. By sharing this practice and experiencing all three roles, a warm bond is formed. Thus it contributes to building a community that can help us to unleash our true potential.

  • The Lunar elements of AcroYoga cultivate listening, loving and letting go. The lunar practice is healing; it includes therapeutic flying, partner yoga, and Thai massage. The aim of these practices is that both the giver and the receiver can feel more whole and balanced after a dynamic solar practice. The lunar practice promotes sensitivity, and loving-kindness, to enable relaxation and muscular or emotional release and restore.Therapeutic flying is an inverted aerial massage.

During therapeutic flying, the flyer (the receiver) is passive, handing over control whereas the base (the giver) supports their body weight while moving them around to stretch, twist, and massage them, using gravity as the help element.

Thai Massage is an ancient tradition, used to open our bodies, using bodyweight, loving touch, and mindfulness. It is key for the participants to learn some massage techniques to ensure that we are confident when they massage people in the air
